I'm a FTM and due at the start of July.

How many baby clothes of each size should I buy?

Newborn/first size (7lbs 8)
0-1 month (10lbs)
0-3 months (10-14lbs)

I'm mainly looking in Next and Sainsbury's.

Also did you make use of any outfits in 0-3 months? I imagine baby will mainly be in sleepsuits but is it worth having a couple of outfits in 0-3?

Baby is measuring very average so far. Both my partner and I were within the 7-8lbs range as babies although unsure if that has much relevance.

I had a 7lb14 baby and mainly shop at Next. I would say that the Next clothing are on the slightly bigger side and our DD didn’t move into the 3-6 month range until she was 4 months old.

I personally didn’t buy any tiny baby/0-1 month clothes for DD. I just rolled up the sleeves on her sleepsuits when it wasn’t cold (but she is a December baby!)

In terms of how many you need will depend. One day you might get through 4/5 if you have a few incidents, other times you might just go through 2. I brought 21 vests and 21 sleepsuits as I could afford to and I also didn’t want to wash every single day.

We found that in the first month she was purely in Sleepsuits & vests. I then started putting her in her outfits every other day and then in month three, to start a mini ‘routine’, I would then aim to get her into an outfit by midday.

The things you’ll need a lot of are muslin cloths.. and also bibs! You can never have too many!
