Hi,
Feel stupid posting this but i could do with some help with a feeding schedule for my near 7 month old. He's currently been having some breakfast and tea but now wanting to introduce a dinner. I give water with meals and in between feeds but is it all too much? As he is a hungry baby, he will take around 6-7oz milk sometimes 8oz.

At the moment
wakes up at 5am
Milk bottle at 5:30am - 6-7oz
Breakfast with water at 7:30am
Nap time approx 8:20 till 9am
Milk bottle at 9:30 - 6-7oz
Dinner at 11:30 with water (would of been milk bottle)
Nap at 12 - 1:30pm
Milk bottle at 2pm - 6-7oz
Nap at 4-5pm
Tea at 5:30pm with water
Milk bottle at 5:45 (he seems to look for this bottle, will take approx 4-5 oz)
Bed at 7 with milk bottle - will take approx 4oz

I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I would told by our paediatric dietitian as a general rules they say you don’t need to introduce a 3rd meal until 9 months. At this age you should still be offering milk 30 mins to an hour before food.

Ours is almost 8mth old, home scales put her at 9.5kg. Has fruity porridge with milk (4oz), puree for dinner, 4-5oz milk, puree for tea and fruity rice pudding with 2oz milk. 6oz and 8oz milk feeds then out for the night.
She's abit funny with milk feeds in the day, faffs with it unless I do a dream feed. Our others loved their milk.

I don’t think it’s a problem to give another one if they are having enough milk it’s more that it’s impractical to do and actually leave the house.

Thank you, will offer milk with his food then offer water in between. I'll see how we get on

I was told that they still get most of their calories from milk until about a year "until 1 food is for fun!" - so you may be cutting down milk a bit too early

Duracellbunnywannabe · 02/04/2022 11:17

Food for fun isn’t correct, they need iron from food but yes the vast majority of their nutrition is from milk at this age.

Chely · 02/04/2022 13:26

The milk at meal times is mixed in with the food. I don't give any water to drink yet.
