Put a comforter in your bra while feeding, they said, then put it in your baby's cot later. She'll start to associate it with you. Well, yes, my baby does, but she just tries to eat it and cries when no milk comes from it. Put red fairy lights up, they said, and it will lull them to sleep. Nope, my baby gets overstimulated and cries. Hang a soothing mobile over the cot, they said, and lull your baby to sleep. Nope. She just takes swings at it with her hands and cries when she can't reach it. Please lots of colourful toys around your baby just out of reach, they said, and during tummy time she will start to reach for them out of interest. Nope. My baby just screams and moves her face and nose directly into the mat even though I KNOW she can lift her head and neck easily from side to side. Swaddle your baby, they said, and she will go to sleep. NOPE - she HATES swaddling. Put her in a sling, they said, and go hands free during the day so she can nap and you can get stuff done. Nope. I have to literally wrestle my baby into a sling and force her into submission after she wears herself out crying, so that's no good.
I can't think of a single thing that I've read online or in a book that actually works. Clearly, I must have a difficult baby!
