Tommee Tippee Forehead Thermometer

Has anyone had good use out of this? I ordered one and received it yesterday and have been taking my baby girl’s temperature to test it out, but it seems so inconsistent - one minute it’s 36C the next it’s 37.5C, then 38.5C then back to 37.5C etc.! I’m putting it in the same position every time, a bit disappointed that it seems unreliable…

We have this and have found exactly the same as you. Our little boy was admitted to hospital at 5 days old and the nurses have us some disposable thermometers which they used to monitor his temp while he was in. I will sometimes take his temp with a disposable one and check it with the Tommy Tippee afterwards and always find the Tommy Tippee is way out unfortunately.

So sorry your little boy was admitted, hope he’s doing better now! Such a shame because it seemed like a really good idea! I have the thermometer that came with the tommee tippee grooming set too, so I’ll double check with that in my baby girl’s armpit, but looks like I’ll have to invest in another thermometer!

I find the forehead ones totally useless except for basically telling you whether they have a fever, which you can tell just by touching their skin.

In ear is also just as inconsistent unfortunately. The best are the old fashioned armpit/oral/rectal ones.

I took my 7 day old to A&E after Tommee Tippee forehead thermometer showed 38.3, when they took it was 37.2 Blush A&E doctor told me they're notoriously unreliable and to use an armpit thermometer on babies!

Our little one was in NICU from birth and we needed a thermometer before she came home. One of the nurses recommended this one as being the most accurate when compared to the hospital ones: www.boots.com/new-braun-age-precision-digital-stick-prt2000-thermometer-10184392?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc--PLAs--Health_Pharmacy-_-UK_Smart_Shopping_Health_Pharmacy_Google&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6J-SBhCrARIsAH0yMZjEtYrUB6Il1cakMsYATsHiWVcaw_9HWU9OPAG_T-cKJanfzuRxL00aApePEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Its underarm and we've used it lots. Seems to be pretty good.

He’s doing really well now thanks :) we ended up ordering an huge pack of the thermometers the hospital use on eBay - they’re called tempa dot thermometers if you wanted to have a look :) it reassured us that at least if DS had problems with his temp again at least we would get the same reading as the hospital staff would to save any wasted trips to A&E - we would be there every night if we went off the Tommy Tippee!
