Cost of formula

Has anyone else noticed a massive price jump? I bought a few tubs (C&G infant milk) 2 weeks ago and they were £8.65 each but yesterday I bought one and the price had gone to £9.50. I know the price of everything is going up but almost £1 in 2 weeks was shocking! Hopefully the weaning stage will be less expensive. Any weaning tips would be great!

Yep I have noticed this

luxxlisbon · 01/04/2022 19:38

Yep regular aptamil has gone from 11.50 to 12.50!

TwizMoo · 01/04/2022 20:02

Yep, noticed this! I know the cost increases are across the board but this one feels really cruel and unfair. They have also started security tagging the tubs in my local Tesco. Just gross.

Aptamil ready made litre bottles have gone up by over £1. Absolutely ridiculous

Baby milk has been stolen for years. It’s always tagged when I live.

*where

babywalker56 · 01/04/2022 20:16

Aptamil has gone up from £11.50 to £12.50. I even saw £13.50 in Tesco!!

Our second baby is due in 3 weeks and our firstborn will be 11 months. So we’ll be buying formula boxes for two babies at a time🙃fml

Chely · 01/04/2022 20:17

They've been tagging formula round our neck of the woods for a long time. It's always in high demand so easy for shoplifters to shift.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/04/2022 20:19

Fuck me- just checked, we spent £11 a tub this time last year on formula, it’s now £13- thank god I’m done having children

Mamofoneboy · 01/04/2022 20:31

Congratulations! And also good luck! My LO is 4 months and they’ll be the only one! I wouldn’t change a thing but I’m just not build for no sleep 😂

I live in Ireland but its gone up in price here too.

Normando91 · 01/04/2022 23:30

We were lucky enough to find tubs of the stage 2 in Morrisons for £4.50 each last week! Wish we’d stocked up on more but it was the first time we’ve moved onto the stage 2 so wanted to make sure he was ok on it.
It’s now £9.50 a tub 😖

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 01/04/2022 23:40

My first child had breast and formula and second one just breastfed partly as it saved money - that was 3 years ago now but it's just ridiculous

As a side note - You can earn boots advantage points and redeem them on number 2 formula but not number 1 as the government can't allow retailers to be seen to replace breastfeeding with number 1 but number 2 is a follow on I think that's what it was I'm sure I heard??

My friend has a newborn and is using Aldi formula as it's a lot cheaper and it's going down fine

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/04/2022 19:41

Tubs have always been tagged in shops near me

Cost wise - buy supermarket own brand like Aldi or Lidl as cheaper

Is the same ingredients are sma cow snd gate and aptimil (not the prob one)

SecondhandTable · 04/04/2022 20:10

It's horrendous! DC1 was bottle fed from being 3 months and on cow and gate which at the time was £8 a tub and 70p for a premade 200ml bottle- she's nearly 4 now. DC2 is 5 months and still mostly breastfed, but he does have a few formula bottles a week. We started on cow and gate but just premades, but it didnt seem to agree with him, so switched him to Hipp which he seems to get on better with. We were using premades but now he wants more than the 200ml bottle in one go so have to switch to powder cos of the cost. Hipp is now £1 for a 200ml premade or £12 for box of powder. It's crazy the cost compared to what we paid with DC1, I'm so glad breastfeeding went better this time!

redandwhite1 · 04/04/2022 22:45

Hipp is still £10.50 in Morrisons- bought it today!!

Goldenbunny · 04/04/2022 22:51

Sma is £13.00 a tin I was paying £11.50 before.
