Very little eye contact - please advise

Hi mommas,
My 13 wk old DD makes very little eye contact. I do understand she is very young for any diagnosis and I'm not trying to put a label or anything just wondering if anybody's baby was similar and changed over time?

No matter what we do, feed, play, sing she would just look the opposite direction all the time since birth. I understand they try to explore the world but it makes me sad.

Any positive stories?

My DD was like this, I remember being at a baby group and she'd look anywhere but at me! Or at least thats how it felt. She's very nosy now at 4 years old! Try not to worry &?over analyse, she's so tiny x

Thank you @Topjoe19 I hope she will change

Babies this age often look away because they need a rest from what's going on
She is trying to regulate

Please try and step back, don't try and work for that eye contact and let your baby lead you

Nothing to worry about yet I'd say. They can still barely focus and the world is still so new and interesting! It's sensory overload Smile

If you Google baby eyesight, you would be surprised how little they can see up until this point. I had no idea! 😂 everything is so new for them and distracting.
I wouldn't be concerned about eye contact until about 6 months +

DS was the same - I remember being a little upset at baby sensory classes because all the other babies seemed to gaze lovingly at their parents and DS was looking all around him. He’s now nearly 8, no signs of autism and intensely curious/nosy/adventurous…

Thank you all! It's very reassuring to know this can be normal. My daughter is 10 weeks old and will not look at anyone. No matter how hard we try she just turns her head. It's so worrying especially my friends son who is 6 weeks stares at us. What week did your little ones start noticing you? I can't wait for the day she looks at me!

Hey she's 6 months now!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still worried.

She's a very serious and quiet baby. She was late to coo only started making noises at 5 months old. She rarely smiles at anyone but me. Her eye contact is great now though. She will stare into my eyes regularly and stare into my soul while I'm eating 🤣

I'm hoping she's just more focused on her gross motor skills. She can roll both ways, crawl and sit unassisted.

Will update again in a few months
