Baby Projectile Vomiting with a cold

Does anyone else’s baby vomit badly when they have a cold or a cough? My 4 month old has had quite a few colds already, thanks to her big brother & nursery, but she projectile vomits up a lot of milk when she has a bad cold. It has happened with every cold she has caught since birth.
Today for example she has vomited up every bottle & it can be an hour or so later after feeding, but it’s projectile not just a little bit. I have taken her to the doctors a couple of times before when she was newborn.
Just wondered if anyone else has the same with their child?

Yes, my 8 month old does. However, not all the time, it'd be if he's really poorly for about half a day. If it continues for several hours you should have your LO checked over to ensure she's not dehydrated and also watch for any signs of meningitis - I was advised ongoing projectile vomiting and refusing feeds alongside fever might be early signs, so better safe than sorry. Otherwise, it's likely a viral infection - I'm sure you've heard this many times from doctors by now. Hope she feels better soon Flowers

Mine have thrown up with colds since they were babies.
My younger one often projectile vomited up to 15 times in an hour with a cold to the extent that I had to change my clothes down to the underwear more than once (to give an idea of the quantity) and the paediatrician said it was normal. Several years on and nothing else ever arose so looks like she was right.

Yes this happened with mine when he was two months! I think because they can’t blow their nose they just have to swallow all their mucus so vomiting is the body’s way of expelling it? I noticed his poo was very mucussy too.

Yes, my DS had a cold around 6 weeks then again around 16 weeks and both times he projectiled so much after each feed! We considered it a ‘good’ vomit if we managed to aim him towards to the laminate flooring in the hall so it only needed to be mopped 🙈🙈 full outfit changes for him and me plus a lot of carpet cleaner was regularly needed otherwise. So keep an eye on nap output but we found it eased after 5-7 days.
