Night nappies and hybrid disposable/cloth

I'm trying to figure this one out and would love some input from experienced mums!

DS, 20m, frequently wees through everything at night. We've tried all kinds of nappies, so far the best are the Huggies overnights in size 2-4 years 😳 but he still leaks a few times a week.

I've just ordered some bamboo/hemp washable booster pads to see if they can stop the leaks, as I've seen some people recommend a hybrid system like that.

My question is about washing - I'll only have 1, maybe 2 boosters to wash each day, and it seems wasteful to run the machine for that, but all the sources for cloth say to do a daily pre-wash to prevent ammonia buildup. Can I hand wash them in the sink each morning, and then add them to my normal washing as and when?

Oh and if anyone has any other suggestions re leaks, feel free! I feel like we've tried it all by this point. Poor boy's just started sleeping kind of through but nappy changes (and leaks...) wake him up, and he's miserable after a bad night.
