Get books from the works and a bag of sweets (if time and money you can order sweet cones with a personalised sticker)- all other plastic schmutter not needed.

Does the party have a theme? If not as PP said, sweet cones/bags are easy and cheap enough to do yourself or you can buy them pre-made.

Mini note books & pencil to go with
erasers
bubbles
stickers
tattoos
bouncy balls

ive found quite a few options on ebay before.

We got a "bake your own rainbow cookie" mix in a jar as an alternative to a traditional plastic tat party bag recently. I thought that was quite good. I assume the parents just ordered them from somewhere rather than making them up by hand though.

Or alternatively, just don't do party bags. We've done that before, no one complained.

Colouring books from Home Bargains. Colouring pencils from Poundland (they do four mini packs for £1). £1 toys from Poundland (I brought plastic princess tiaras and earring set, and make your own perfume set for the girls. For the boys, three pack of toy cars and dominoes).

If its before Easter, a £1 Easter egg each. Job done.
If not poundtoy.com has lots of small things. For a slightly older age range I got lego star wars mini sets from there for £2 each (£6+ on amazon)
