Lazy toddler..

So I'm a First time mom. Our little guy is almost 13 months and we are trying to encourage him to pull up on his own. He is very capable, I've seen him do it. But he'll do it like once or twice then he's like.. nevermind! And goes and does something else that is within his reach. He is walking with assistance, I will also add he is a creeper not a crawler. But he can pull himself to his hands and knees when he pulls himself up.

What can I do to encourage him? When I put stuff up on the couch for him to "get" he screams a lot..like.. wth?? And then he'll creep off somewhere to do something else.

The other thing is I don't know how to get him to pick up his own food. He likes being fed by a spoon..he'll play in his food if I give it to him but he will just throw it on the side or just wave his hand around. I do eat with him every meal and attempt to show him my lack there of table manners, chewing, picking up food etc. But its still not clicking. I have talked to his pediatrician and he said if its still a problem at 15 months then we'll talk. Anyone have any thoughts?

I will also add he is 28 lbs and is almost 32" long. So he is very tall and a big baby. The toys that designed to help him stand he can sit down and reach them from a sitting position. He can also reach toys that are on top of the couch from a sitting position.

he's just developing at his own pace.
don't overload him with expectations.
and waving spoons around is how he learns range finding.
let him be.

Let him focus on the skills he wants to focus on and learn in how own way and at his own pace. He’s still really young and nothing you’re describing sounds very abnormal.

Not lazy. They all develop at their own pace, give him a chance!

Oh gosh, thank you!! I've been told by so many people he's being lazy. I feel relieved.

With standing he’ll probably do it in his own time. With feeding I often sat opposite DD with a spoon and gently held a spoon in her hand and guided it to her mouth.it took a few weeks but she got it.

Achieving his goals (e.g. reaching a toy) in the way that takes less effort and expends the least energy is just being smart lol

Neither of my kids walked until 16 months. Your expectations are very high, he's just a baby.
