i feel so stupid, i was holding baby and almost slipped down the stairs! i managed to save us from falling but i was holding baby on hip and her head flung backwards :( i should of been more careful and i feel so so awful. i’m scared i could of accidentally hurt her because she was crying a lot after it eventually she settled but i’m worrying so much. she’s 4 months old and has good head control with hold her head up. but can’t help but worry with the way her head went went back :(

You almost but you didn’t. Just go steady and steady and slowly.

It's a such a panicky feeling isn't it, when that happens. It makes you feel sick.

Please rest assured that children are so bouncy. I have had a 6m roll off the bed, another fall off a chair... It feels terrifying but they're pretty robust.
I'd like to say it gets easier when they're older but even with toddlers you're walking through a doorway, turn too soon and you're clonking their head off the frame... Blush

Everyone's done it. Don't panic. Wine

These things happen. I DID fall down the stairs with my 10 month old the other week, trip to a&e and she had broke her leg!
Not a nice experience but she was/ is remarkably resilient, believe it or not the brake healed within a week and she was back cruising around furniture in less than 10 days.
I know how you are feeling but i chose not to go down the route of guilt/ blaming myself. It wasnt going to help anyone and it was a genuine accident.
Why do you feel stupid?
If you are genuinely worried about her head get her checked out but then move on.
By all means be extra careful on the stairs, i know i will be, but don’t beat yourself up

It's normal to react like this as a new parent. Baby cried because of the shock and because you were rightly scared.

I slipped when collecting my daughter from nursery - my shoes had no grip! I managed to land - hurting myself - but saving her! Had to get rid of those shoes.

Most children end up having accidents or near misses at some stage.

When my son was 2 months old i put him in his car seat but forgot to put the straps on. As i went to lift the car seat into the car, he slipped out onto the road! I got an awful fright and felt really negligent! He is 12 now and it is a funny story i tell him!

I did this. My body naturally twisted crazily whilst sort of holding my newborn aloft! I broke my foot in 4 places with a “footballer” twist injury but baby was fine. I don’t know how I did it!
