Potty training children born very prematurely

My DD is coming up to 3 and was born at 29 weeks. She is showing no interest in using the potty yet. I know she is not ready but there are people who think she should be out of nappies at her age. My question is this: Is the fact that she was very premature relevant? Had she been born at term she wouldn't have been 3 until mid-April. Developmentally she is well on course in all other areas. Thanks in advance for any advice/experience you can share.

Have no idea if it was relevent, but my twin nephews were born at 34 weeks so not as premature as your dd. 1 toilet trained at 3.4, the other was nearly 4. I have no idea if this was to do with them being prem, but they just weren't ready before then. I know it is hard when other people are going on at you, but ignore them.

There are many term children who are still in nappies at 3.

Thanks for your reply, Tutu. Anyone else out there with any experience? Thanks.

being born that prematurely could be relelvant. Even if she wasn't born so prematurely, I wouldn't push her into potty training unless she showed signs of being ready.

Ignore what other people think.

I think not being ready to use the potty at nearly 3 yo is not particularly unusual anyway

Thank you all.
