Going from 2 to 3

Morning, I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant with baby number 3.. I’ve heard going from 2 to 3 children can be a big shift. My son is 7 and my daughter is almost 2. Any words of encouragement or advice from anyone who’s been there would be fabulous, we don’t yet know the sex of babe but I’m not sure it will make a difference as far as the transition is concerned

I found 2/3 not too bad actually.

It was 3/4 that was by far the worst for me 😣

So easy. Tbh I found all 2 onward just slot in to family life easily (even twins, 4/5th). We have 6 now.
It's just sleep deprivation that can be hard, especially when all the kids are ill.

The exact same gaps as me, OP. DD had just turned 7 and DS1 was 3 weeks away from 2 when DS2 came along and is now 14 weeks ( 6 weeks prem ).

It's been a bit of a shock after a 5 year gap, I won't lie. DS1 is just that little bit too little to understand " If you let me get the baby to sleep we can play together " and I very much look forward to the two days a week that he is in nursery so I can do housework and enjoy DS2 who is mainly in a sling! Luckily DS1 has only just started sleeping through the night most nights so I haven't found the getting up in the night bit hard and actually DS2 is a good sleeper but bedtime is a bit of a shitshow if DH isn't home - we get through though and I'm sure in a few months time we'll get into our stride!

Same age gaps as me.
It was much harder going from 1 to 2 than 2 to 3 in my opinion.
My eldest was old enough to be quite helpful entertaining the middle one when I was feeding DC3.
It was harder to establish a daytime nap routine with school and nursery runs, but I think that has contributed to DC3 having a chilled personality.
Congratulations, you have loads of fun times ahead.
