Too many OOS activities - how do I put my foot down to whittle them down

She does

Modern on Monday
Piano alternate Tuesdays plus Guides each week
Wednesday - Competitive Ballroom & Youth Club
Thursday - play & praise (which is held at my house so difficult to avoid)
Friday - nothing
Saturday - Ballroom

Which is too much imo

Now as well as that in the summer she sails - which she is getting good at - so winter Sundays will be Ballroom comps & summer will be sailing comps - maybe 1 or 2 a month

I am not sure I can cope never mind her

Modern has just announced a summer show - I don't think I can committ to that as well (it means extra practises & a costume)

So, how do I force her to give something up?

tell her that she has to drop at least one thing, and make her choose which one.

FWIW tho, she does less than mine, and I haven't made any of mine 'give up' any, just allowed them to drop them as and when they get bored.

it really depends on why you think it too much.....is it the cost, her tiredness, or are you getting tired of taking her?

whichever the reason for you wanting her to drop, you need to explaint the reasons so she can make the right judgement for herself, hopefully avoiding resentment issues IYGWIM.

how old is your dd? Was just wondering if you could somehow start the conversation around you're getting older, more homework etc so need to think about how to plan your time?

think you should discuss it with your dd but also what do you think she is least keen on as she may not know what she is most keen to give up on? Also is there anyway she can go to/from any of it alone (I think I was about 9/10 when started coming back from dancing lessons on teh bus). That may well not be very practical if its not safe or too young to do this.

I just think it's a lot at just turned 10

i guess I think school work will loom it's ugly head soon & don't want that neglected

nothing as he kept pretending he was a darlik and 'exterminating' the little girls at acro/ballet/street (tried all as he wants to do them, until he gets there)!

tis ehausting, and that is with the ones we have dropped.......

the three girls also last year did three shows (one at the b'mouth pavilion) plus madals and exams, and also DD1 was in a dance festival too!

ooh, and there have been modelling shoots times two aswell.....have had to tell them that this year they get a holiday OR a show, not both....the last show cost me over £400 in costumes(that was all 5 tho!)

I'd be guided by her tbh KatyMac. I did loads when I was a child - loved it at the time, and don't regret it now.

But dss just enjoy being at home and having time to chill and be creative and anti-social

They do a maximum of about 2 hrs a week each - swimming/instruments/youth club.
