Birthday party for 2 year old?

Daughter is 2 on the weekend.

Was thinking of just having family over for coffee and cake and then taking her to soft play later. We also have a bouncy castle that I could put up.

There would probably only be about 4 members of family coming over. Her Sister is 4 and she loves a party and to her a party means a load of people and a disco etc. I didn't make any Mum friends with my youngest as she was born during lockdown so I don't actually know anyone with a similar aged child.

Partner wants to invite all of the eldest Daughters friends (we are friends with all of her friends parents).

Would you bother to hold a big-ish party with all of the eldest friends? I don't feel like there's much point but then don't want the eldest to think we haven't made an effort.

I think it should all be about the birthday girl and not her big sis on this occasion. Would she like to have some nice time with family members or does she have a little friend or do you have a friend with a child her age so she can have a little 1:1 play date? They are so little at that age so a bit of cake, her favourite food and a short play would probably make her day xx

Get the eldest to make some jam sandwiches or jelly for the “birthday tea” , she will be so proud she won’t notice you aren’t calling it a party.

What would the birthday girl actually like best? Do that. I think my DD's 2nd birthday must have been in a lockdown as I don't remember doing anything much at all sadly.

Loads of people will be too much for a 2 year old.
Soft play is perfect for a 2 year old- try and go during a quiet period.

My son’s birthday was loads of balloons in the living room, bouncy/soft play.
Home for cake, then a nap then presents.
We went out for dinner and he had a blast!
