Duck poo

Please don't judge me. My toddler ate duck poo yesterday. Obviously I stopped him- but he may have eaten a fair bit as I heard him muttering about chocolate.

He's ill today. Been throwing up. There ARE a lot of illnesses going round- including a vomiting bug.

I'm not panicking yet, but should I? If the two things are connected, what kind of illnesses can he get from eating duck poo? Argh!

My DD managed to eat cat poo, no judgement here! One of them had left a little nugget on the carpet Blush I rang 111 and they said it might make her puke but otherwise it was ok, she only ate a tiny amount though. Might be worth ringing 111 if he's unwell just to check.

I keep ducks - they eat worms and insects and grains, nothing that could be dangerous to your little one, might be what’s made him sick but might be a virus so try not to worry- if he’s throwing up he’s getting whatever it is out of his system anyway, so get him to drink as much as you can and he should be fine.

I'm not a germ phobe but I'd be worried about all the bacteria in duck faeces, ecoli, salmonella etc! I'd ring 111.

One of mine had campylobacter from duck poo, they had explosive watery diarrhea with blood flecks in, it could be this.

Thanks all. I'll keep an eye on it. He's currently singing after eating an ice lolly, so it doesn't appear fatal.

A vet friend was saying that after eating their own poo, dogs can be fed pineapple to help as it's a natural antiseptic (?)
This might help?
