Has anyone else been unwell pretty much this whole year so far?

I'm on my fifth bad cold/virus thing (last one was covid), this one is just as bad but not covid.
I feel like I've been unwell on and off this whole year so far and it's exhausting and depressing, especially whilst trying to do a stressful part-time (that should be full-time) job, and the rest of the time care for an extremely energetic (and often unwell too) 2yo.

Everyone's saying it's because we didn't mix for a while now everyone's getting ill...

How are you all doing?

Yep
Currently have covid for the second time. Had various illness before that. To be honest I've had enough now

BertieBotts · 17/03/2022 17:48

Yes Hmm it's always either DH, me, the 3yo or the baby and it all comes from nursery. Bloody expensive germ factory. I don't think he's been for longer than ten days in a row all year.

Sonata13 · 17/03/2022 17:53

Constantly ill since Omicron at Christmas. Terrible chest infection, endless colds, kidney infection and today feel faint and sick. At proverbial end of tether.

Not me, I don't tend to catch what the children get, but they certainly have! Only minor viruses (and covid once), but it's been non-stop, particularly for the little ones. I don't think my baby (14 months) can remember what it felt like not to have a runny nose!

redambergreen70 · 17/03/2022 18:05

Me! I had covid just after Christmas and I’ve been ill ever since - bad chest, constant cough, tonsillitis, etc etc. Doctor says it’s long covid and they are running out of options for me at the moment as they are still not sure on exactly how it can effect people.
I wet myself every time I cough too which is just fantastic. I’m at the end of my tether!

Thursday37 · 17/03/2022 18:07

Yes, 5th thing since 1 Jan here too, none if it Covid. All nasty.
It seems to be constant stream from nursery Sad

ThreeBalloons · 17/03/2022 18:12

Yep, so much illness here too. We haven’t had covid but since Jan we’ve had d&v twice, a random weird virus causing fever and muscle aches twice, and constant colds, coughs and sore throats, plus the baby has had conjunctivitis twice too. Luckily DH and I have managed not to be ill at the same time but someone has been ill for the whole period pretty much. All coming from my 3.5 year old at nursery 😭

electricdreamm · 17/03/2022 18:38

It's nice to know other people are in the same boat, but I feel for you all majorly knowing how gruelling this life is right now.
I only have 1 DC too.

Without sounding majorly depressive, it feels like I'm on a treadmill and I can't get off. Even if I'm unwell I'm expected to work from home. Days off with my DS are bloody hard work. Then there's the washing piles, cleaning, food shopping, cooking dinner, seeing relatives, trying to use less fuel, trying to use less gas and electric, and don't get me started when the cat starts rubbing round my leg to be fed!!!

But hey, there was a taste of Spring today, and I have a G&T to keep me going this eve.
Sending well wishes to you all xx

Yep, several colds, Covid and currently have norovirus. I'm never poorly but I put it down to going back to choir practice and being back in rooms filled with people. My poor immune system took a battering with all the lockdowns, distancing and masks. I'm sure I only caught Covid because my immune system was weakened. DH didn't get it and he's been working with the general public throughout the whole pandemic, whereas I work alone or with just one colleague at a time.

VioletLemon · 17/03/2022 18:47

Oh god, yea! Feel all I've done is moan this year. Had a cold, viral thing for 6 weeks with streaming eyes which lasted ages. 2 weeks feeling well then got 2nd Covid. Not desperately unwell but kidney pain and gland pain. Cough lasted weeks and it's clearing up now. Was unwell for 6 months last year and my system is low so could be that too. Bring on the spring air!!

Mol1628 · 17/03/2022 18:48

Yes! Colds, norovirus, flu and then Covid. Now another cold. It’s been non stop since September really.

lardass88 · 17/03/2022 19:19

Yep, tonsillitis , then Covid, then thrush, now cystitis- all within the last month 😞

Sonata13 · 17/03/2022 19:47

Also cystitis! Wonder if covid related?

Avonacha · 17/03/2022 20:22

Omg I was just thinking this yesterday after testing positive for covid! I was telling DH I literally just want a week to just catch my breath before one or all of us get ill again!!! You're right- it could be due to the lack of mixing but that's been out of most people's control.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/03/2022 20:26

I’ve been as robust as you can imagine my whole life. 58 now, had to take to bed with a cold for a day last week, first time I can remember. Our (toddler) grandchild has has virus after virus since December, our son in law has been coughing for a month and my CEV husband takes to bed after work most days because he feels “meh”. (We’ve all taken, several, negative lfts).
Because of the risks during Covid we all isolated for 16 months. I’m certain that explains why we’re all coming down with everything now.

KateF · 17/03/2022 20:29

I changed jobs to a new nursery three months ago. I've had a vomiting bug, two bad colds and hand, foot and mouth so far! Hoping my immune system is now adapted.

SparkleSpangle · 17/03/2022 20:31

Yes us, every week we go to playgroup, every week we pick something up.

I don't want to stop going to playgroup DS was born a few months before lockdown so we need to socialise and he loves it. It does feel a bit like we are asking for it though!

PinkPlantCase · 17/03/2022 20:35

Yes! I haven’t been well for pretty much all of 2022.

Constant colds, flus, covid and tummy bugs.

I have made more snot that I would have thought possible Blush

Can’t wait for summer where we’ll hopefully get some relief.

Ghostmooncup · 17/03/2022 20:42

I've had the opposite in a way - covid twice in a short period but no colds or anything else.

I do think the WFH when poorly impacts hugely on the chance to rest and recover. Suddenly you are expected to work through whilst looking after children as well. I'm sure that leads to feeling run down and then increasing the chances of picking up something else.

My kids are school aged and we have been through the constantly I'll nursery days though. I imagine younger kids born in lockdowns are picking up all sorts.

Boda2021 · 02/05/2022 22:18

Hi all, I know this is an older post but just looking for some positive words. Since last September 2021 I have been ill every few weeks with various viruses including covid, lots of colds, tummy bugs etc. We have two little ones aged 5 and 2.5 years old and it seems that the youngest one who is at nursery keeps bringing all these bugs home as he is ill first and then I’m getting ill. I have had lots of blood tests and other tests such as ECG as had tight chest and increased heart rate with covid and went to hospital with it so they checked the heart too. All tests are normal and I just don’t understand why I’m constantly ill. I’m desperate to get better and not be so tired all the time. Please tell me this gets better

Wow this is basically my life too. Constantly unwell with colds, chest infections, sinus infections. All three of us - DH, myself and DD (age 2, at nursery). We seem to have a three day break between viruses/relapses of infections. The bank holidays have been miserable as nursery is closed (yet we still pay!) but DH and I unwell and trying to entertain a two year old. I work full time and feel like life is relentless - dragging myself through each day and feeling pretty miserable. Sorry it's so hard for you too Flowers

Sonata13 · 04/05/2022 12:39

So down today. Covid at Xmas lasted 2 months then went away and came back 4 weeks later. Now feel weak and tearful and nauseous. Don't know if this is long Covid but I have never felt so depressed. My legs are weak, and I'm still breathless. I really feel for all of you going through this. Just want some light and laughter and energy back in my life. Determined to get there. Anyone got any good tips? I'm putting coconut oil in my coffee as it takes down inflammation. Along with copious amounts of vitamins. We will prevail!!

AnyFucker · 04/05/2022 12:48

Yep

This week is the first time I have felt halfway decent since November

Boda2021 · 09/05/2022 07:07

We have been exactly the same and it just feels awful. Any day trips we do with the little ones are so exhausting and then we are back to square one the following day to try to recuperate. I have on and off insomnia too since having covid in March and I really can’t cope like this.

The things I have bought to try to help us are as follows (all fairly natural products as wanted to give that a go first). Some symptoms have eased since taking these but that might just be placebo, not sure.

  1. Echinacea drops

  2. Magnesium oil for legs or other body aches

  3. Angus Castus tablets (having worse premenstrual symptoms since covid)

  4. Sambucol

  5. Optibac (having digestive issues since catching covid)

Only just started these last week but going to hang in there to see if things improve.

DrBrennerFan · 09/05/2022 07:09

Tested neg but all I’ve done is sneeze this week it’s been ridiculous. Never been like this.
