mmmm

rrb drifts off into a day dream zzzz

buy a lovely big house with lots of land, have a lovely indoor pool [i'd also have the water really hot, bath temp] with spa and steam room
in the kitchen id have a american style fridge freezer and a range
and id have the most amazing bathroom ever

a huge garden with a huge trampoline and a seperate bit of woodland for horse riding and quad bikes, although not at the same time! lol

perhaps by my own island in the maldives

id take a trip around the world with dh and dd, staying in only the finest 5 start hotels and we would only come back when we felt like it
taking in places such as,great barrier reef and african safari

buy a couple of holiday homes abroad and in the uk ,maybe one in london and one in sandbanks and maybe one in majorca [so its not too far to travel.
id also buy a boat which id keep at my sandbanks hoilday home

pay off all my familys morgages and make sure there all ok, put money aside for dd in the future

buy our local hosputal another birthing pool and buy a holiday home for our local charity for children with cancer, that took my beloved cousin on her last holiday r.i.p
it would be the most child friendly hoildya home ever for all the children to enjoy

although id prob have to win the lotto 10 times to do all this lol

what would you do
??

I don't think I'd do anything like that. I think I'd pay the DC's school fees off to stop me worrying about them. Then I'd buy a flat for my best friend who is a misunderstood genius so that he can be warm and write at the same time. I might buy a new car for my DH because he hates his car and won't spend money so if I did it for him that would be cool. I'd give a bit to the charity I support as well. I think I might buy myself a few paintings though.

Acinonyx · 05/01/2008 22:14

Definitely start with a big house in the country and have a housekeeper and gardner (no more housework - yeah!).

A sports car for those rare occaisions I drive without a child in the back.

A couple of holiday homes somewhere sunny and reasonably unspoilt.

Some funds to dh's family (I don't have any).

Trust for dd and maybe private school.

Some kind of charitable trust - have to think about that.

Hmmm. Yes - it had better be a good win!

robinredbreast · 05/01/2008 22:52

oh yeah a house keeper
and a chef

i would buy a decent sized but not huge house. probably a 4 bed in the middle of a nice area.

would buy a nice car, nothing sporty or flashy.

i would hire a housekeeper and a couple of care workers for Ds. he would be home educated by two well trained and well chosen teachers who would also have the support of his care staff.

I would probably buy a horse for the Dc's to share until DD got old enough for her own.

i would just enjoy the things that normal people enjoy. never having to worry about the cost of Ds's Care and safe in teh knowledge that because we have money in the bank he will always be supported.

robinredbreast · 05/01/2008 23:13

awww thats lovely mamazon

how amaing if you did win eh ?

I'd buy a decent sized house, but not a mansion. The important thing would be an enormous garden or a couple of padocks so I could grow all our fruit and veggies, keep chickens and have an extended family of pets - a pig, maybe a cow, some interesting sheep and a couple of bee hives.

I'd get a cleaner who did ironing too.
I'd have a chap to help with the garden and animals so we could go away occasionally and not worry.

We'd go on holiday more often.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/01/2008 23:31

Tackle some big legal/political issues that annoy me but that I'm not prepared to throw my own hard-earned cash at.

Buy my local pre-school a purpose built building.

Run a homeless shelter with provision for their dogs.

And I'd love to fund DH, who's top fantasy is to have a ship big and strong enough to ram Japanese whaling ships. He'd probably get round to other nations too.

Twinklemegan · 05/01/2008 23:31

Buy a detached house with a decent garden and views.

Buy a new and reliable car (and perhaps a runaround if new house wasn't close to public transport).

Buy some decent furniture.

Help out my brother who's stuck with a flat he can't afford and can't sell.

Start a new business.

Invest the rest and enjoy a better standard of living from the interest.

Oh where to start....!

I'd buy a nice house, nothing stupidly big but spacious.
Pay off any debts etc obviously.
some money to our families.
Lots put into trust for Kieran.
Nice car each.

and a cleaner who comes in a few hours lol!

Misdee · 05/01/2008 23:44

i'd buy a 5bed room house, thats aroom each for the girls, master bedroom and a guestroom.

must have a garage. car for dh and myself.

would make sure peters family and my close relatives were taken care of.

but one thing iwould love to do is buy a 3/4bedroom house near harefield hospital to 'loan' out to families of transplant patients who have young children. Even though harefield has Parkwood house relatives accomadation, its quite hard staying there with young children. i would love to provide a cheap place to stay, with enough room for a family to stay close by comfortably, without worrying about things like highchairs, keeping kids entertained in the evenings, sleeping well etc etc. just anything to help families lives there easier.

08aGreatYearForCarmenere · 05/01/2008 23:47

I'd be doing what I am doing now but in nicer surroundings.

soapbox · 05/01/2008 23:49

I'd build a dozen or so gorgeous women's refuges up and down the country and fill them with all the women on here who have abusive tossers for DHs!

LaDiDaDi · 05/01/2008 23:49

Take a year off work to chill/travel/reflect on what I really wanted to do with the money.

I think I'd want to:

Have another child
Work part-time
Buy a house in a more secluded setting with a bigger garden.
Hire a gardener.
Pay my current cleaner more so that she could be my housekeeper.
Set dp up in business.
New cars, dp would want flash and I would want safe .
Set up some sort of scholarship type thing at the uni I went to; for local students applying to do medicine.
Donate some money to the three schools that I went to.
Buy dp's brother a house.
Money to our parents if they wanted it.

Tortington · 05/01/2008 23:53

i would save al the baby gerbils of the world from their terrible plight

fireflyfairy2 · 05/01/2008 23:53

The first thing I would do would be to tar our lane!! It's full of big pot holes!!

Then I would donate a chunk to dd's school, It's a small local school in need of repair work.

I think I would replace our cars, make sure all our families were Ok financially & then put the rest in trust.

a local family won the lottery about 8 years ago. They were on the news saying nothing would change, they loved their council house etc...

Now they're driving about in top of the range cars & have built a mansion..

they also sponsor loads of local teams & events, they deserve every penny of it

expatinscotland · 06/01/2008 00:07

i'd definitely get the hell out of here!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 06/01/2008 00:08

soapbox - what about ugly womens refuges? Or average-looking womens refuges? Why only gorgeous women? It's a disgrace I tell you.

.

jezzemx · 06/01/2008 00:13

Help my db. He went back to work on Thur and was told the firm has gone bust and was made redundant Db and Sil are expecting a baby in 5 weeks time. Soooo I'd buy them a house and spoil them.
Give my parents loads of cash, buy my other db a house. Buy myself an even bigger house, learn to drive and put a million £ in trust for each dd. Give some to charity and local kids clubs oh and go on loads of holidays
