WigWamBam · 05/01/2008 20:48

My initials are TP. So teepee = wigwam, and that's what I was going to be.

Only when I came to change my name (because I had a very boring one before), I couldn't get the old Sweet song out of my head.

So that's what I became!

Hassled · 05/01/2008 20:51

I was well a truly hassled when I first posted (I had no knowledge of etiquette and completely hijacked someone's thread to offload about teenage DD). I've considered changing it to ConsiderablyLessHassledTheseDays but it wouldn't be right somehow!

Bluestocking · 05/01/2008 20:56

I had a mumsy one to start with and then someone (possibly Cod?) told me I had to change it.

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

PrismManchip · 05/01/2008 21:02

I read this in a book of silly names (it really is someone's name but she is dead).
I used to be Pruni because I like pruning. (Boring but true)

StaceyBranning · 05/01/2008 21:03

I was StaceySlater but then for married to Bradley Branning so changed name from there. Maybe it should be StaceySlapper now!!!

Don't know why I chose StaceySlater just popped into my head and thought it would do until something else better came to me.

forkhandles · 05/01/2008 21:19

mine is taken from the Two Ronnies'sketch in the hardware shop where he asks for fork handles and is given four candles etc, etc

bossybritches · 05/01/2008 21:25

Often accused of being...................

(OOOOH Forkhandles that is our family's all time FAVOURITE sketch!!)

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2008 21:31

am an Armistead Maupin fan and MaryAnn is first character in the Tales of the City...

forkhandles · 05/01/2008 21:36

Is Armistead Maupin an anagram? I seem to remember my friend telling me this when she lent me a book ages ago.

Chaotica · 05/01/2008 21:36

An imaginary character on star trek voyager (which is itself imaginary, obviously). And it seemed kind of appropriate in several ways.

milou2 · 05/01/2008 21:37

Mine is after the French name for the little white talking dog in Tin Tin. I read a lot of that when younger.... mushrooms in the ocean anyone?

Acinonyx · 05/01/2008 22:03

Acinonyx is the latin genus for cheetah. Just like the latin names, and I like this one in particular.

Quattrocento · 05/01/2008 22:08

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quattrocento It's a period I remember with great fondness having done a history of art subsid. It also recalls for me one of my favourite poems:

"Her present image floats into the mind -
Did Quattrocento finger fashion it
Hollow of cheek as though it drank the wind
And took a mess of shadows for its meat?"

The incomparable WB Yeats

chonky · 05/01/2008 22:11

Childhood name - my parents used to call me chonky chops (god only knows why).

GoodGollyMissMolly · 05/01/2008 22:12

One of my dogs is called Molly, she is crazy, so I say in exasperation; 'Oh, good golly miss molly'

HairyIrene · 05/01/2008 22:14

Maidamess · 05/01/2008 22:15

I was originally mrsmerton, a name I loved until my 12 year old dd spotted it and I thought 'oh god another thing exclusive to me GONE' (like my hair straighteners) .

I like my name now, I wanted it to be a Terry Wogan Radio 2 type name, like Norma Snockers.

Vulgar · 05/01/2008 22:15

I enjoy vulgarity in all it's forms.

It's also one of my favourite words.

ScaryHairy · 05/01/2008 22:17

I used to have a different name and changed to this one to post about a particularly hideous ingrowing hair that I had.
I never posted, the hair came out and I couldn't be bothered changing back as never liked the old name anyway. Will be on the hunt for a new one soon, I think.

Bluenosesaint · 05/01/2008 22:18

My footie and rugby teams ...

slapheadsrock · 05/01/2008 22:19

A love affair with bald men - particularly Patrick Stewart. Unfortunately dh is not bald, although I do keep rubbing his head in a bid to help things along

MrsWeasley · 05/01/2008 22:20

From The Wonderful Harry Potter Books

iwouldgoouttonight · 05/01/2008 22:21

Used to be a huge Smiths/Morrissey fan and I would go out tonight but I haven't got a thing to wear (and I'm too tired/have small child to look after/am skint - delete as appropriate)

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2008 22:51

forkhandles - one of the characters,Mrs Madrigal, is an anagram...Armistead Mupin is his real name

SueBaroo · 05/01/2008 23:09

It was the first thing that popped in my head. I wanted to use my real first name because I didn't want to be asking for advice about serious things and have people respond with "Well floppyears, I think that may be deadly"
