bad luck? it's a Christian celebration isn't it? Aren't Christians (speaking as one) against the idea of superstitions and bad luck?

I don't think there's anything in the Bible about Mary leaving the decs up too long and then stubbing her toe on the manger

Erm, isn't it today? 12th night is actually the EVE of the 5th January.

Cremolasnowdome · 05/01/2008 15:54

aujourd'hui

RubberDuck · 05/01/2008 15:55

Twelfth Night

RubberDuck · 05/01/2008 15:55

erm EVE of the 12th Day which is the evening of 5th January.

QuintessentialShadow · 05/01/2008 15:55

It is tomorrow, on the 13 day of Christmas.

If you take down you Christmas Star today, the Wise Men wont find the stable and wont be able to provide Baby Jesus with his gifts of gold, frankinscence and myhrr.

Some countries open their Christmas presents on 6th january, for this reason.

ArcticRoll · 05/01/2008 15:55

12th night is tonight isn't it?

SSSandy2 · 05/01/2008 15:55

Thought it was after the 6th January (visit of the 3 kings/wise men) so still related to Christmas. We have them up still because Russian Christmas is tomorrow (Jan 6th). I take them down on the 7th

RubberDuck · 05/01/2008 15:56

another source that says 12th night is 5th Jan

Most people take theirs down by Epiphany (6th January), but you can leave them up until Candlemas (2nd Feb)!

I'm psyching myself up for doing the deed tomorrow.

SSSandy2 · 05/01/2008 15:57

Sorry quint crossed post. Hadn't seen yours!

Buda · 05/01/2008 15:57

Well I thought they had to be down by night of 6th so did it today as I thought today WAS the 6th!

House now looks very bare .

But managed to persuade DH to help me and we condensed them from taking up 2 wardrobes in basement to only one! I am banned from buying any more decorations. Ever.

SSSandy2 · 05/01/2008 16:00

Quick BUDA!!!! Get 'em back up till tomorrow! ha ha

God how many decorations do you have?! Thought I had a lot but not that much

robinredbreast · 05/01/2008 16:01

RubberDuck · 05/01/2008 16:01

No, Buda is right - you're supposed to get them down before sunset today.
