Toy sets for 2 year old

My 2 year old has never played with toy sets like happyland etc. He’s awaiting autism assessment and not really into imaginary play. When he was 1 he just threw/stamped on this sort of thing but he’s calmer now and I’m looking for a toy set that might encourage joint play together, especially one with cars/trains as he enjoys anything with wheels. Is this a good idea? Suggestions? Thanks

My son is 2 and really not into role play toys either. He absolutely loves cars and trains, we bought him a drain pipe (a half open one) and he absolutely loves putting his cars down it and playing with us with it. We get so much joint interaction, eye contact etc when using it. He also has a train table with a train track set up on it. If I do any painting I just let him dip the cars in the paint and drive them around on the paper. I went on Pinterest to find ideas, some good ones on there!

I don't really understand what age Happy land is aimed at - my nearly 4 yo enjoys it far more than my 1yo (who just throws the figures around) but lots of them say from 12/18mo on the boxes.

Yes follow his interests! We have a load of IKEA train train which is great and pretty cheap, you can often spot big bundles of trains and track on Facebook marketplace. We also have a road map rug, car garage etc - my 1yo just loves pushing car round whereas the 3.5yo will make up scenarios about what mishap has befallen a car or truck. We got other figures like dinosaurs and animals but not as fun as cars!

These ideas sound great thank you. He has a train table but doesn’t use it, I think it’s too low actually so might need some new legs for it.
