Sudden fussy feeding?!

My baby who is 5 months old has suddenly become SO grizzly. It is just not like him. He will cry and refuse his bottle and will only take it in very small amounts, I feel like I am feeding him 24/7 and struggling to get into a routine with him.

Has anyones baby suddenly had an aversion to their milk? I took him to the doctors cos he was just constantly screaming beside himself. They prescribed gaviscon to see if that helps, maybe silent reflux. I think it’s working a little bit, but he’s still being super fussy. I am wondering wether to change his milk? He’s been on it for a couple of months so I thought it was fine but now I’m wondering if he’s just not enjoying it or if it’s giving him a bad tummy. I have just started him on a few purée type foods, then wondered if something in them was causing him pain, he was really bad the day after one that had cheese in?

This morning I gave him oats made up with his bottle and that seemed to fill him for a couple of hours. Not sure wether to up his food but only give him foods that will be very easy on his tum, change his milk or what I’m just not sure!

If anyone has had something similar it would be great to know if you think you found a cause/solution … Smile

It might just be coincidence but my 15 week old very suddenly went like this recently. Was acting hungry and it had been 4/5 between feeds but woukd scream after an attempt to sick the bottle and refuse it.. or drink very little of it, which was a huge change from the week before where she was draining 6 or 7 oz Bottles. I was naughty and looked at Google, couldn't see any signs of thrush but did see a suggestion of Teething so I tried the 3 monthly friendly Teething gel and tried again 10 mins later and she drank the whole bottle. It's worked every time she's screamed at the bottle so far. So Teething related maybe? Might not be but was just my experience so thought I'd share just incase.

Teething was the first thing that sprang to mind. Have you tried a faster flow teat?
