Hi all 😊 in a few months I’m going back to work part-time from mat leave and wondering how is best to split my hours. I want to do 21-ish hours a week but don’t know whether it’s best to do three 7 hour days and have 2 days off per week. Or just go in every day (Mon-Fri) for approx. 4 hours? I understand everyone’s situations are different but am curious to know how other people did it and whether it worked for you or not? This is my first child.

Thank you!

I’m doing fine for pension otherwise I would not be working part time

And I am as senior as I want to be after five years of professional exams pre children so no desire to climb up the career ladder

@OnceAgainWithFeeling I assume you made that comment after a detailed look through @implantreplace ā€˜s payslips, pension statements etc? Because of course otherwise you would have absolutely no idea.

It was a general observation of the impact of going part time on women. It will make a huge, and often unthought of, impact on women.

Agreed

But let’s give women the benefit of the doubt that they have the facilities to balance any losses with any gains and make an informed decision

As I did

I'm planning on doing two days 12hr shifts. Tuesday and Friday. He will go to nursery they days. The rest of the time he will be with me. My rationale was..
only two days to get us up and organised
No one wants to work a Monday and a FridayšŸ˜‚
He's only little so don't want to miss too much. Will increase when he goes to school.
