Hi everyone

Looking for some advice my LO born 31 weeks 1 week corrected has been on EBM since day 1 all of a sudden her nappies are full of mucus seedy stools and I am really unsure if this is a sign of intolerance to something like cow's milk protein or this is normal - help please!! ☹️

I feel like I've read somewhere that mustardy grainy poo is normal in EBF babies? Is it frequent - you said just the last week?

My daughter would have poos like that sometimes and funnily enough she does have CMPA - only discovered when weaning, but to me it doesn't look too out of the ordinary?

Thanks for replying! It's been about a week or so and it's every dirty nappy it looks like some sort of mucus which is making me think some allergy is starting to develop which is odd though ☹️ she also goes quite frequently. She has had some spots on her face but they have cleared up so thinking that was just baby acne. She also suffers from bad gas.

Yep both of mine have cmpa and that looks like their nappies before diagnosis. The stringy mucus as well.

Yep - mine has cmpa and the stringy ness is what is similar.
My health visitor advised strictly cutting it out for 3 weeks, then reintroduce with a heavy milk day (eg yoghurt, milkshake etc) and see what the impact is on your baby. For me the nappies cleared up of mucous and strong after about a week and then when I broke the dairy free 3 weeks with a veg lasagne, she was in agony and up crying and uncomfortable in the night then mucous nappies and green poo.
It depends on your diet how big a change it is, but digestives and Oreos have been getting me through. Good luck.
