Green frothy turned slimy poo

My 4 week old has had green frothy poo for about a week. She's gaining weight, and doesn't have any fevers. I BF exclusively, and make sure to drain each breast and not swap between feeds. I've tried block feeding the past 3 days, I've swapped to a lactose free diet, and her poo has shifted from green and frothy to green and slimy. I'm worried it's been over a week now that she's had runny poos. Any advice?

You can contact the health visitor for advice and maybe take a picture of some of the nappies. Keeping a good diary might also help you to spot any culprits.

There’s probably a few things it could be. My youngest who had CMPA had nappies like this, but also had lots of difficulty feeding.

A lactose free diet for you will have no benefit if baby has LI as your NN itself will still contain lactose
You could try dairy free diet to eliminate cows milk protein or a co lactase enzyme to break down lactose

As PP have said it could be CMPA and cutting out lactose doesn't cut out the milk protein. You would need to go completely dairy free which isn't as hard as you think it might be. Oat and coconut are now fantastic substitutes. Soya also did this to my DD when I ate bread with soya flour in it and any soya based products (it's packed into a lot of foods you wouldn't imagine). Coffee can also be a culprit.

Taking pictures of the nappies is something I did and the HV was happy to look at them and refer to a dietitian based on that.

Good luck on getting to the bottom of it, OP.

I've just been through this. Weeks 2 and 3. Green frothy poos. I block fed for a week and issue resolved. It's most likely oversupply / fast let down and will settle. You could see a lactation consultant.

My little one had this, I didn’t change anything and it just passed
