Moving baby in to his brothers room

Does anyone have any advice for moving 6 months old in to his 19month old brothers room?

We moved him in yesterday and it went like this...

Eldest has always had an old cot which is a cross bar which he often climbs on and then falls out so I put little one in this cot and the eldest in the new cot which doesn't have a cross bar.

Afternoon nap I tried to put them both down at the same time but neither would settle so I ended up taking the little one out of the room and then the eldest settled but only napped for half the usual time.

In the evening I put the little one down in the new cot and he fell asleep fine, the eldest fell asleep fine in his usual cot.

The eldest woke up at 3 and wouldn't settle so I ended up bringing him in to the front room and slept with him on the sofa (well he slept at least Confused)!

I assumed it would take some time but am I doing this the right way do you think?

Any tips for successful room sharing, especially during night wakes please.

We did this, but mine were older. 3 years and 3 months and 8 months. It does take a couple of weeks to readjust. Is there anyway you can sleep in the room rather than taking one out in the settee. Also changing his cot may upset the older one too. So you've made a change for both of them and they'll both have to get used to this.

Yeah that's what I thought so put him back in his original one.

I'll give it more time, the older one is probably quite excited by it all too.

We had two weeks of hell, my 8 month old went from sleeping through 10-12 hours to not sleeping at all. Actually coming to think of it. He was 12 months and the older was actually 4 years and 2 months 🤦‍♀️. They still share a room 1 year later, they both settled down and sleep beautifully together in the same room now.

@Amichelle84 how are you getting on? Any progress with the sleeping arrangements?

It's actually not been bad except for that first night. The only problem is when the eldest wakes in the night crying but the little one soon goes back to sleep.

It's actually very cute listening to them in the mornings when they wake up.

It is, it's lovely. Mine love sharing and they do t wake each other up anymore.

Glad it's worked out for you
