Worried about my 4month baby being exposed to a lot of static shocks!

I'm not sure if this is harmless but I'm so concerned! My 4 month baby boy usually sleeps in a sleep sack however they're waiting to be washed so I've used a thin blanket for tonight and yesterday night and tucked him in. Anyway he slept for a solid 6 hours tonight! Which is totally not like him at all! He's always been a poor sleeper and religiously he's been waking every 2-3 hours! I also went to my friends for a few drinks last night (second time out since he was born and I left my husband to do night feed, he also mentioned how he slept much better!) however through the whole night he wouldn't have no more than a couple of ounces of that... usually he feeds a lot from me during the night. I thought he would make up for it from me today but he hasn't been interested at all so I'm also concerned about his intake now because since now he hasn't had much off me tonight either... (sorry for the side tangent but I thought I would get both my concerns in there lol) so it seems all night and day he's hardly fed (exclusively breast fed).... anyway back to the static, he's finally awoke tonight and I moved the blanket off him and I couldn't believe how much static shocks I seen coming off the blanket! It was like seeing live electricity! Then when I moved it off they went onto me... I have taken the blanket off and even where it was all tucked in static shocks were still bouncing where it was getting pulled out! Anyway my hands and arms all of a sudden feel itchy and I think it's off the static that went on me. But baby has been sleeping trapped underneath the blanket all night so now I'm scared of all the static he's been exposed too! And wondering if it's got something to do with him sleeping so long all of a sudden! Someone please reassure me that it's harmless 😩 it was mad I've never seen anything do that before ever but I find it odd that he's acting like this and that just so happens to be full of static shocks... so worried.

Hi, I’d switch his clothing and bedding to cotton. Wool and manmade fibres such as polyester cause static shock. I doubt the static shocks are harmful but they can’t be comfortable. Cotton won’t give out any static shocks (just make sure it is pure - a little elastic will be okay).

Completely harmless. This is just PFB syndrome. Smile

If it’s bothering you, keep tumble dryer sheets on hand. Rubbing them over the fabric kills the static. Obviously don’t leave them in the bed, and I’d probably not put the scented ones too near his face, because a strong smell is probably as uncomfortable as a static shock, but they’re very effective and perfectly safe.
