Nap transitions

Hey!

So I need some help/advise.

My 7month olds DD (almost 8 months) naps have started to fall where she then doesn’t have a 3rd nap of the day due to it being too late and to close to bed time. Usually she goes to bed at 7pm. However the 2nd nap of the day is too early for her bed time to be 7pm still but too late for there to be another nap. So I have been bringing her bed time forward.

As a first time mum I wasn’t sure what was going on but when I googled I see it’s about this age the transition to 2 naps happens but I’m concerned when she never naps for long so I don’t want her to not get enough sleep.

This has only happens for 3 days now in a row but what I’m struggling with is how her naps are usually and always have been very short she gets to 30 minutes usually and wakes up on the dot.

The last 2 days she’s slept longer for a hour and half nap both days which is why I think her 3rd dropped however today I’ve really struggled with her naps her first one she refused to go down for so long and when she finally did she only had 20 minutes and then was wide awake again, her 2nd nap she only had 40 minutes and then she wouldn’t have another. Bed time brought forward to 6.30 tonight but I just wanted some advise on how to deal with the nap situation when she never sleeps for long but seems to be refusing a 3rd nap of the day! I know it’s only been 3 days but I wanna make sure I do the right thing for her.

Sorry message is so long! X

You can bring bedtime forward but also stretch the time between her waking in the morning and her first nap and between her first and second nap. Especially if she didn’t want to go down for her first nap and woke quickly, it means she can probably go a bit longer before you put her down for it. Just try stretching each awake period for 15 - 30 mins each and see how that goes. It sounds like a fairly normal transition from 3 down to 2 naps. There is always a week or two where you figure out the new system.
