13 month old milk bottle , won't use beaker

My 13 month old has two milk bottles a day. I've tried to switch these to a beaker as recommended from 12 months but he just has a meltdown and won't take it. He has his water during the day from a beaker...just wants his milk bottles. Any ideas how I can make this change?

Keep offering.

Now he's over 1 he doesn't 'need' the milk so it's ok if he doesn't drink any of it.

You can always give him an extra yoghurt during the day and milk on his cereal counts too.

I honestly think it's fine for the time being especially if it's only 2 bottles and you're brushing his teeth properly twice a day.

Sorry, I meant it's fine and not to worry about it. If you still want to let him have the milk having a bottle for a bit longer won't do any harm. If you want to stop using it maybe reduce the amount of milk in it gradually.

When I was weaning DS off bottles I got this type of cup. It took a few misses to get it right though, he probably tried at least 3 different types of cup to find one that worked for him. Keep trying different types would be my advice

Have you tried a cup with a straw or an open cup?

My son just pours milk / water down his front / all over the floor. I’ve tried various cups & beakers, but he likes the bottle. Eventually, he will drink from a cup...

Thanks for comments everyone.

@Twizbe he barely drinks any water throughout the day, perhaps 5oz so the milk is his main fluids so I'm worried about him not taking enough in.

@TeddyBeans @Seasidemumma77
I've tried several different cups / beakers and the only one he seems to like is a straw one. This morning hr had about 1oz of milk in between having a meltdown then just refused it and screamed and cried until k gave in and put it in a bottle.

I do brush his teeth twice a day and as he is only just past one year old I'm not overly worried yet but just wondered if there was any changes I could make so we get there soon. I thought the morning bottle would be an easier switch than nighttime so have been starting there for a month or so but no luck.

Try not to worry about that.

They will drink as they need to. I keep their water bottles out all day so they often take small sips through the day as they need.
