Any Bumgenius V2 users can you answer my questions please?

Hi

I have been trying out the Bumgenius V2 nappy, just putting one a day on my LO and I absolutely love them! I originally had Tots Bots and although they were good I found them too bulky and her clothes didn't fit properly?

Anyway, I have ordered 20 Bumgenius V2's in pink (how cute) as they were buy one get one free .... bargain!

I have a few questions though before they arrive!

Are 20 nappies enough, I don't mind washing every two days as I'm always washing anyway?

Do you dry pail them or soak them in something before you wash them?

What temperature do you wash them at, do you use softener and do you wash them with other clothes etc or on their own, my LO still has the 'chicken korma' poo so not sure about mixing with other clothes!

I noticed the poo seems to collect in the elastic in the legs, is there an easy way to get this out, as some was still there after washing?

Do you put liners between your LO botty and the nappy to collect the poo, or do you just put the nappy straight on?

Which end does the folded over bit on the insert go, bum or front bottom end (you probably think that is a stupid question)

I have ordered some cotton bottoms 'diaper doublers' will the normal insert and this extra one be enough for 12 hours straight sleep at night?

Thanks for any help you can give

Willow - i just came on to ask a question about bumgenius too! hope you don't mind if i hijack slightly and ask another question [cheeky emoticon!].

if the nappy is just wet can you just change the insert? the wrap doesn't really seem to get wet so i wondered if i could stuff it with another kind of booster and reuse it a few times before washing.

i've been impressed with their ease of use and absorbency and got a few half price too.

my lo does runny bf poo so i tend to use a paper or fleece liner to try and catch the worst of it. although i did find mine stained a bit too.

i dry pail, i usually wash nappies (alone) at 60 with a pre-wash with only a little detergent (in the main wash) - don't use softener it reduces absorbency but you can use some white vinegsr instead. i'm sure others will give you more advice.

20 should be fine

Dry pail - pockets aren't keen on soaking

40 most of the time with a blast at 60 occasioanlly or after/during tummy bugs. No softener. I tend not to wash with other clothes, if you do then you can't wash with whites/pales or the other clothes will go yellowy until they get the sun at them.

Blast it with the shower in the loo if possible

Sometimes - depends on the consistency. If you do then you must make sure it is well away from the edge.

I do it at the front

Not a clue, not tried em

I wouldn't just change the insert because the liner bit will still have been in contact with wee.

yes i do it at the front to and have never used a doubler but am guessing its a booster intended to get to the 12 hrs - i would pop something else in to then de boost rather than have a wet night iyswim. Agree with all other stuff and do a cold rinse before i do my 40 degree wash with the odd 60 blast. I have never had a gathering poo issue???, anyway i love em too and its them and greenkids my nursery gets on with best - dont know why but fuzzi bunz are not working for nursery though they are for me so have just had to order another 6 in for myself to - well snaffle from stock lol! v3 come on monday how exciting!

oh and yeah dry pail all the way - urghh to poo soup!

I dry pail and put the machine on "rinse" cycle before a normal 40 degree wash and occasional 60. I line my nappy bucket with a net bag that way I can lift the whole thing out in one go with no need to touch 2 day old nappies. Stick the net bag into washing machine with the top open so the nappies just fall out in the wash. I tend to give it a little shake to help them out.

I fleece line as paper lining gave my son a red bottom.

Re folding the insert as you have a girl I wouldn't know which way you should fold it (I have a boy so any doubling was done at the front) Could you pull the insert out to see where it is most wet?!?

Boy colours are sooooo boring, girls are really cute.

i never use a liner - find the brown stuff just peels of the suedecloth anyway....
