Children love a 'snack plate' - easy to prepare, broad range of stuff, easy to eat, we include things like (from a selection below):

  • Crackers (as in ones for cheese), breadsticks, or pitta fingers
  • Slices of cheese
  • Cold chicken or ham (often from a packet)
  • Slices of cucumber, tomatoes, pepper etc.
  • Berries (prepared sensibly to avoid choking)
  • Slices of apple/ orange
  • Slices of avocado
  • Hard boiled egg
  • Houmous
  • etc.

Even age 5 DD would prefer a snack plate over almost any other meal.

My 4 and 2 year olds love a snack plate too.
Or we like beans on toast, scrambled eggs on toast, fish fingers (usually served with ketchup, bread and butter and cucumber sticks).
My 2 year old loves soup, not super quick to make in the first place but if you make a batch and freeze it you can just reheat straight from frozen.

Another one saying a snack plate!
My DD would have a picnic, as she calls them, for lunch and tea every day if I let her.

We do snack plate 99% of the time. Sometimes leftovers or soup.

Today:
Cream cheese on toast
Bit of avocado and yellow pepper
Chunk of Brie
Strawberries

Pretty simialr to pp, favourites in our house were:

Houmous and crackers/toast/mini breadsticks with cucumber
Smashed avocado and crackers/toast
Beans on toast
rice mixed with ham, grated cheese, peas and sweetcorn
Cheese, crackers and pineapple (tinned)

Eggs are brilliantly easy but my DC were never that keen.

Mine both loved tinned fruit (in juice not syrup) as a pudding at that age

Cooked broccoli, mozzarella and dried breadcrumbs.
Mix altogether in a bowl with a raw egg.
Make into sticks, whack on a baking tray and bake for 10-15 mins.

Eggy bread was always a hit here.

Soup with toast fingers to dip into it.

And agree with everyone else - snack plate is a winner. (And v easy for you as well!)
