5 month old hysterical crying in sleep

Seems like she's still asleep. Goes on for about 5 minutes no matter what I do, it's happening about once a day during naps. Any ideas what might be causing this?

They go through a leap at around 5 months which is about when they start having nightmares. Poor little thing! Does she wake?

Following as my five Month old is doing exactly the same. It can happen with naps or in the night too. It ends up cutting an already short nap even shorter...

Following as my 18 month old DD has been doing this every night since about 5 months, but not always hysterical, the only thing that works is co sleeping and I'm desperate to find out why she does it!

I'm interested too as my 5 month old has just started doing this too. Like @Emineminie it makes catnaps even shorter and she wakes absolutely hysterical! Then gets increasingly tired and grumpy through the day... lovely!

She never used to make a peep in the night either but now lets out really loud cries now and then which make me jump every time.

My 5 month old does this too, either during naps or nighttime. Luckily he usually stops when I go up and put his dummy in as he is still asleep!
