5 mo crying at faces

In the last week or so my 5mo DD has started crying (as in big screaming, inconsolable meltdown cries) when other people look her in the eye and try to interact with her. She never used to do this and is generally not much of a crier. The first time was when I had a group of mums and babies over, when she had a huge meltdown, and it's happened a few times since. Is this normal or should I be worried? I'm also not sure if I should be more gentle with her and do less things where there are faces that could loom at her or if I should carry on as normal to teach her it's fine. Thoughts??

My DS had a phase like this. He’s fine now (11 months) but is still a little bit cautious with new people.
I wouldn’t avoid people, but maybe try to let her get used to the people in the room gradually before getting really close to them.
