Toddler twitches

I’ve recently noticed my almost 2 year old can be quite twitchy. He often is falling asleep but then so is his dad and I also can be so just wrote that off as normal.

Recently when he’s awake and relaxing lay on me I sometimes notice that he twitches quite a bit. It’s nothing you’d ever notice unless he was lay on you and the movements are very subtle but his legs might twitch, then his hand, then his chest. He seems fine throughout and will be watching tv or talking or drinking/eating without a care in the world. I’ve noticed it on and off but most days he’s fine, it’s just random. I only ever notice it when he’s sat on my knee fully relaxed, when he’s up and about he’s fine.

The times I have noticed it it’d been in the evening after nursery when he’s very tired. I’m at a loss. I try to video but the movements are so slight you can barely see them. Could this be normal? I’m feeling a bit sick with worry.

Have no experience with this I'm afraid but didn't want to read and run.

I'd definitely give your HV and/ or GP a call. It's always worth a conversation if it's causing you worry and just to be sure.

The fact you notice it when he's tired means it could just be happening for that reason. He's likely physically tired as well as his mind after nursery, and it could just be his body's reaction when he fully relaxes. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but definitely start talks with the relevant people just to check Flowers
