Baby clothes sizing

Frustrating stage where 9-12 is getting too small but 12-18 drown my girl. She is long and thin! Anyone have any recommendations on where to get smaller 12-18 or bigger 9-12?

Next and matalan seem to be generous sizing I've found. Although, I just had to wait it out. He went into 12-18 at 12.5 months and they were HUGE! He's now 14 and they're just about looking neat Grin

Oh thanks I've never tried matalan, I'll have a look at the weekend I love next but her legs are tight length wise.

I have a long, slim baby (91st height centile, 75th weight) and John Lewis & H&M are best for him.

He was wearing Next & supermarket 9-12 month from about 7.5 months, whereas JL & H&M were a good fit for him from about 10.5 months.

I find Aldi the biggest and Tesco the smallest, Aldi 9-12m was the same length as Tesco 12-18. Not sure if either are shaped for long thin babies or not though.

TataMamma · 03/03/2022 20:59

M&S is the biggest in my opinion. I find Primark the smallest.

We found Asda were the best for our long dude and always had to size up before

whysoserious123 · 03/03/2022 21:00

Morrisons ?

Burgerqueenbee · 03/03/2022 21:09

I find Morrisons to be on the small side to be honest. Mothercare are bigger in comparison as 6-9 still fits almost 9 month dd without being tight but Morrisons 6-9 were tight by 7 months (my dd is quite long/tall at the moment having had a big growth spurt and jumping a few centile lines for height).

Vertbaudet comes up slim, if she remains slim that's the way to go.

Also Gap.

TBH 2nd hand is probably the way to go!

thebigpurpleone · 03/03/2022 21:13

H&M come up big

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 03/03/2022 22:32

Matalan come up a little longer. My baby is 15 weeks and still fits in 0-3 matalan clothes and just fits into sainsburys 3-6 months...I'll not be getting more from sainsburys!

mummyh2016 · 03/03/2022 22:39

Matalan and mothercare run larger I've found.

Mummy1608 · 04/03/2022 07:13

Sainsburys can be smallish so you could go up 12-18.

Also second hand clothes tend to be slightly smaller because of shrinking slightly after many washes

Poppy709 · 04/03/2022 07:23

Sainsburys and Asda smaller, h and m, John Lewis and m and s are bigger in my experience x

Jskfh837 · 04/03/2022 08:13

I've always found Sainsbury's and m&s come up big whereas Primark smaller.

millymae · 04/03/2022 08:21

I have never worked out M&S sizings for girls, especially the 2 part sets. The tops fit true to size but the bottoms such as tights and leggings are always really long. I thought it could just be that my girls have short legs but friends have found the same.

Chely · 04/03/2022 08:29

Next, M&S & Mothercare (at boots) are very generous sizes.
Great thing with girls clothes with a long slim baby is you can keep dresses in the smaller size and use them as tops with a pair of leggings. Sleepsuits go with the footless, cut feet off ones you have or get 2 piece pj's.

MissLC · 04/03/2022 08:30

I think la redoute are on the small side.
They have some beautiful things in at the moment and 40% off alot of it.
My LO is 11.5 months and her 9-12 JL dungarees are still far too big m, so annoying

KindlyKanga · 04/03/2022 08:31

GAP is small and thin
