Yet another sleep thread - help me get my evenings back!

What time does your 18 month old go to bed?

Context: My 18m has never been a good sleeper but we are used to it now.

He currently is on one nap a day (usually a good long one) and bedtime 5.5/6 hours after nap - any earlier than that is absolutely no-chance-in-hell-mama-we-be-reading-thirty-books-until-I’m-actually-tired. He then wakes variably - once to three times a night overall is asleep for 9.5-10 hours.

With me 3 days a week he naps like clockwork at 12.30 and is up at 2.30, bedtime 8. At nursery 4 days a week he naps well but often doesn’t go down until 1/2pm and wakes around 3.30. On those days it’s a fight to get him to bed for 9pm and I’m bloody shattered and miss my evenings with my husband. Last night was 9.15!

I guess my ask is this:

Am I literally like a lunatic awful mother whose putting her baby down at ridiculously late hour? Is this normal? Do we suck it up? Do we cut his nap? I usually wake him after two hours… I’ve tried shorter and he was an OVERTIRED MESS ALL AFTERNOON and it was just mental. Nursery very reluctant to wake him but will if I really persist or if it gets to 3.30.

**worth noting he doesn’t sleep in later, alas, when he goes to bed later.
