Baby cold

Hi all, 16 week old DD has woken up very sniffly and coughing. We've checked her temp and it seems ok for the moment (36.6). We've put a menthol diffuser in her room and DH is currently trying to get her to sleep upright on his chest. Has anyone got any suggestions to ease her discomfort? She's just so confused about what's going on!

My DD who is 8 weeks had covid a few weeks ago and now has a cold, we’ve just been using baby olbas oil and calpol as she is really sniffly and not feeling herself. Hope your DD is okay soon, it’s horrible when they are ill! Flowers

Baby olbas oil is from three months I think?

OPtoy could try sterimar baby nasal spray - there is one suitable from birth and one from three months

You could try some snufflebabe vapour rub. I swear by the Calpol plug ins too.

Also run the shower on hot, close the door and sit and hold her next to the shower cubicle or bath so she can take in the steam. It'll clear airways.

If she's breastfed then lots of feeds for extra fluids.

For sleep, you can roll a towel and put it under the head end of the cot to keep her a tad more upright if there's a nasal drip. I'd also recommend a nasal aspirator for her nose before sleep.

I hope she feels better soon.
