Baby slings - recommend a ring sling?

Grumpetvoluntary · 26/02/2022 16:05

My baby is 5 weeks old and I have a Moby fabric wrap which I wear her in most days. However I'm not a massive fan of it and have seen mums wearing ring slings which look much comfier/more practical.

Can anyone please share their opinions of the different types of wraps/slings and specifically can anyone please recommend a particular brand of ring sling?

I live rurally so am unable to get to a sling library to try some out.

Thanks!

I bought the Nalakai one from Amazon and I really rate it. I would say that it became much more useful when my son was about 6 months when he could sit up properly as it somehow made it feel more hands-free. When he was under 6 months I preferred a stretchy wrap as it held him closer and more securely. I use it regularly even now (son is 14 months) and feel it's really good quality.

I had a close caboo for 2 of mine and it was fab. Really easy to use and felt really secure. V comfy too.

I had a close caboo for mine as they were tiny and it was one of the few suitable, it was lovely for the first 3 months but then I went over to a Tula. The caboo was easy to use and comfy but once mine started wriggling it didn’t feel as secure.

I have a Didymos that I got from Facebook marketplace, definitely wouldn't buy it full price but it is pretty and good for chucking her up and down (much bigger than yours!).

When she was littler I had an Izmi baby carrier. That might be worth looking at. They're lovely and soft but not much faff to get on and off, kind of a half way between a sling and a carrier. She lived in it from 3-6 months (Facebook again, and sold it on).

I loved my Neobulle ring sling with my babies. It was very sturdy and easy to use. Perfect for a newborn. Since all the weight is on one shoulder, it can be a bit uncomfortable as the baby grows but I could still use it (for short periods) when my kids were 2.

I bought a baby bjorn. Its been ideal for my baby since she was a few weeks old (she's only 14 weeks now) but I like it so far.

Slings are expensive so I'd advise you watch YouTube reviews etc and you'll see if it is something you like .

I had a Maya wrap and used it for my last 3 babies. I still have it in storage. Beautiful thing. I used it with one of them until she was 2! Really strong and comfortable.
