Hi all!

My little girl is 13 weeks and takes 6oz every 4 hours.
We use the kendermill formula and make it by boiling fresh water each feed, letting it cool for 30 minutes in the kettle, make the bottle then leave it an hour to come down to room temperature so baby can have it.

Has anyone done the 3oz of cool boiled water and 3oz of boiling water to make the feed?
Even when baby is sleeping I'm having to be up every couple of hours to boil the kettle then to make the bottle then waiting for it to cool.
Having to be up 1.5 hours before the feeds even due is really tiring me out.. all my sisters have done it but I'm reluctant as she can be quite sicky

Can you get ready made In that brand?

Otherwise prep machinembee great for overnight

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2022 00:05

Ready made is only in 70ml in packs of 24. But never seen it. Always out of stock on their site - can’t buy in shops

Meant to be making a 200ml bottle as well but again who knows when

They need to make a litre bottle of it for financial sense like other brands

I thought the bottles only lasted 2 hours or is this just once they're made?

I suppose you're only making half the bottle then completing it when adding the boiled water and formula [/quote]
2hrs once drank, but 24hr from freshly made!

When I started with formula when DS was 5 months or so I used to do as you did but at night I was breastfeeding.

Then I read it was ok to store bottles and it all changed. I make up a days feeds at night for next day. It works well for me.

Even if you are making a fresh bottle you can put the bottle in a cup of cold water to cool it. Have you really been getting up 1.5hrs before a feed for 13 weeks?? You must be shattered!
Make a days worth of bottles, store in the fridge and heat them by sitting the bottle warm water.
And unless there are major health concerns don’t wake the baby at set intervals for feeding, just offer the bottle when they wake.

Milk suggestions aside. Are you sure you want a picture of your baby in a public forum ?

Is this right? Can you make all your bottles in the morning then? Or make bottles and bring to bed? I thought 2 hours too, would make things a lot easier

OliviaL9530 · 26/02/2022 17:03

@Blondeshavemorefun

I've just done 4oz of cool and 2oz of boiling.. life changing! It's ready immediately. I can't believe it haha

Two things

I allow my mam bottles to cool in cold water
Why not?

Also
I put my boiling water in a flask and use for 5-6 hours then pour down sink
Got enough to kill bacteria?

I had a PP machine at home and did the 2 flasks method when out and about, I used 2 chilly bottles as they are nice and slim and fit in the change bag easily. Had powder measured out in little pots. When needed a bottle, 2oz from the boiling flask, add powder then topped up with 4oz from the cold flask. Literally takes seconds and means always ready to drink.

You can make them all in the morning but you would need to store in the fridge, so during the night you just need to sit the bottle in a jug of hot water to take the chill out. It’s 2 hours out of the fridge, 24hrs in the fridge.

More then welcome @OliviaL9530

It’s basically your own diy of a perfect prep and how I’ve made bottles for years

Just make sure powder goes into hot first - then add measured 4oz cold

I used to take bottle up with 8oz cold prev boiled water so could easily tip in 4oz , making sure 4oz left on cold water bottle as will be just over 6 in bottle with powder added

OliviaL9530 · 26/02/2022 22:06

@Blondeshavemorefun

Yes I've brought up 4oz of cool boiled in one bottle and a flask with boiling water plus empty bottle then poured the 2 of hot added 6 scooos, rolled in between my hands then poured in the cold. Such a game changer honestly

Such a beautiful baby, happy op 😍
I did that method too with the flasks. It's so handy. Same ratio as that
I also used to make, flash cool and put in the fridge too. By the time I'd changed the babys nappy, bottle was at correct temp from sitting in a jug of boiling water.
I don't like perfect prep machines, personal preference.
