Toddler swallowed bit of wooden spoon

So my toddler age 5 I gave him small tub of ice cream with one of those tiny wooden spoons that come with it. Half way through eating it I noticed the top bit of the spoon was missing. I asked him did it break he said yes in his small and swallowed it was y accident.

Now I'm freaking out 😳. What will I do? I did hear him cough a bit when eating it but nothing severe.

Hopefully it will just come out the other end.

I’ve never heard someone call a 5 year old a toddler though!

Call 111 now they will advise

I bite off a spike from a wooden spoon when I was a kid and it got stuck in my lip and it swelled up like crazy and was very sore and that was only in my lip.

It's likely your little ones stomach acid will cause it to dissolve and that will be the end of it but I would call a professional and ask them. They may tell you to go to a and e to be super sure or to keep an eye on him such as sickness etc

The human body is really clever at surrounding foreign bodies with a thick mucus, allowing it to safely pass through the digestive system.

Struggling to get past the 5 year old toddler but if it was smooth enough to go down his throat without issue then indoor think you have anything to worry about.

I've never hear of a 5 year old referred to as a toddler before haha. When my daughter was 5 she was in year 1. Anyway, I'd guess it will probably be fine and this stuff does happen, but if your worried 111! Smile

I'm a single dad. I didn't actually realise toddler was baby age until I just goggled it now 😳. Nobody has ever called me up on it they must think he is a dry old looking toddler lol

Toddlers are called that because they toddle when learning to walk, what did you think it meant?!

coffeelover13 · 26/02/2022 07:40

I think it should be fine. Can always call 111 for advice

WhatNoReally · 26/02/2022 07:42

He'll just poo it out.

brainhurts · 26/02/2022 08:32

He should be fine , children eat loads of odd foreign objects, most don't cause any bother

davidgraham5 · 26/02/2022 08:58

I didn't really question it as he will always be my toddler in my eyes
