Making up a formula bottle - is this correct?

If I boil the kettle and make up a fresh feed is that bottle ok to use anytime within the next 2 hours ?

So I could make it up, pop it in the change bag and go out , in which time it’s cooling down and baby could drink it anytime up till the 2 hour mark ?
Or is that wrong 🤦‍♀️

That's correct. The boiling water is to kill the bacteria in the formula powder. The bottle is then fine to drink from once within 2 hours (not to drink from, put down, and go back to).

Thankyou ! I was just getting confused . I read about people replicating they perfect prep system when out with a flask of hot water and a flask of cooled boiled water but I was thinking for short trips out can I just make a fresh bottle just before leaving that will then cool and be able to be used within the 2 hour window but I wasn’t sure if understood it correctly !

You're welcome. It's really important that formula has enough hot water over 70c on it for long enough to kill the bacteria in the powder. You can then add cold as long as you aren't over diluting it. But your plan sounds great, as long as you keep within that 2 hours and don't allow baby to revisit the bottle as once they have attached they introduce bacteria to the bottle which will grow quickly.

I’ve would literally just follow the instructions on the formula tub. That’s the safest way to make and feed your formula.
You don’t need to worry about what people on the Internet say they do. The instructions are on the tub.
