Can brown eyes get lighter?

I'm brown eyed, but I'm a green eye carrier, my husband has blue eyes. DS quickly develop brown eyes during the first 2 months of life. DD kept her newborn grey eyes for a much longer period of time than her brother, and now at 3 months she's started to develop a brown tinge around the pupil, but the outer iris is still grey. I wonder if it's possible that her eyes will turn hazel. Has this happened to anyone?

Most settle by 9mth but some can continue changing for the 1st few years of life.

We both have blue eyes (my dm has green), ds has blue with green flecks in his eyes but all the girls are blue in varying shades.

Slightly off topic but out of interest how do you know that you're a green eye carrier? My 3 month old has very bright blue eyes which look like they're going to stay blue, my 4yo has amazing grey/brown eyes and DH and I are both brown eyed. I'm fascinated by the whole thing!

I don't know for sure, but my aunt is green eyed and my father is has hazel eyes. Depending on which allele my father passed down to me I could be a carrier. Years ago I took an ancestry DNA test and in one of the features it got my eyes colour correctly and said I carry some genes that block melanin (enable light eyes), so according to those results my father passed down to me the "green allele".
