yes i want to get a storage box for dd, the ones in places like mamas and papas do have a special hinge so that they close slowly

although they are about 100-150 quid

argos sell a nice wooden box for about 15 quid but of course there it doesnt close slowly

and little fingers will prob get trapped

DIY shops usually sell them.

I think they're called 'soft-close hinges' - most seem to be for kitchen cabinets though.

Hardware store - you want a 'soft close hinge'. Homebase etc do them. You might also want to consider some retention chains too (they support the hinge and mean that if you LOs decide to try and open the box too quickly, they don't damage the hinges.

Alternatively, you can get little foam pads to put around the edge of the box to break the seal so if it does slam, it doesn't slam hard IYSWIM.
