10 month old routine - refusing solids

Hey

Please can you share your 10 month old routines?

My LO is just 10 months and she's always eaten really well. The last month she's been more fussy than normal with feeding and started refusing textures, and now she won't eat ANYTHING other than yogurt, breadsticks and chucks of cheese. Everytime I go near her with a spoon or even give her the spoon and bowl she just throws it and screams and cries at me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm wondering whether it's time to drop a bottle?

7am - wakes for the day

7:30/8am - breakfast
9:30am - 7oz bottle and nap for 1.5 hour
12:30pm - lunch
2/2:30pm - 7oz bottle and nap for 1.5hour
5:30pm - dinner
7pm - 9oz bottle and bed

This is a good day but generally she will eat breakfast with abit of fuss atm, then lunch and dinner she will point blank refuse but then if I give her some cheese chunks or yogurt she will eat it fine? I'm just so confused on what to do. I don't want to drop a milk feed if it doesn't make a difference and then starts waking in the night 😩

My 11 month old just went through the same stage at 10 months and we dropped the morning bottle. I think cold, teething and too much formula wasn't helping. Daughter was refusing to feed herself and being unusually picky. I can now say that her tooth has come through, we dropped the morning bottle in place of a snack and now she's back to eating even better than before.

@Helenknowsbest that's so reassuring! Thank you, I'm going to try and drop her morning bottle tomorrow and see what happens.

How long did it go on for, for you?

She still doesn't have any teeth so I was wondering if we may see a tooth soon, would explain her fussiness but who knows x

It's been a good 2-3 weeks. She wasn't interested in any finger foods or spoon fed meals either. Yeah look out for any drooling, or them putting fingers in mouth but they usually do get a tooth around this age so it wouldn't surprise me if your little ones gums are sore. Try without the morning bottle and just give her a snack instead before the first nap. Then maybe bringing her lunch forward a little, she would surely be really hungry without a morning bottle. X

@Helenknowsbest thank you!

I tried to cut out the morning bottle but she wouldn't settle for her nap without it so I only gave her 4oz. She's eaten most of her lunch for the first time in weeks, and then i will give her another 4oz before her nap at 2pm and see how it goes with dinner! X

Ah thats a good idea, yeah do what works best for you. Makes it easier in the long run for weaning off the milk :-) x

It could be that she's teething or feeling under the weather

Or it could be she wants more control over exploring food herself, maybe stick to finger foods and give her all of the control

Accept something might end up on the floor

Solid starts has a free app that helps you know how to prepare the food safely for her if you're anxious
