5 months old baby still contact napping

I'm a new mom and I feel like im doing something wrong based on all the recommendations. So first of all my baby is falling asleep only while being breasfed, second of all EVERY nap during the day is possible only if he is sleeping on me. And third of all we bed share in the night. Trust me we tried everything with putting him in the cot during the day or night. It just doesn't work. He wakes up immediately during the day. And regarding the night if he is in the cot, he would wake up every 20 min or so. Its important to mention that he hates pacifiers and soothes himself on the boob. Please tell me maybe there is someone who is in the same situation like me. Because i fell like im failing this whole motherhood thing. Regarding bed share please do not worry, its a king size bed, my husband sleeps on the couch and my sleep is very very light because of the baby.

You are doing all the right things! This is what babies are supposed to do but like another poster said our society doesn’t teach us that. You are doing fab, my baby was the same. At 18 mo he still contact naps & we co sleep x

You're doing nothing wrong. My 2 year old BF to sleep until only recently and I could only get her to nap in buggy/ car on the go - other than that it was contact naps.

Hi there, I’m in the exact same situation with my 4 month old and just wondering how things have progressed for you? Worried she’ll never sleep without me!

Mine contact napped until 6.5 months when I'd had enough and she was ready for sleep training. Did pick up put down. Took about 5-10 mins for each nap for a few days but she then started sleeping really well in cot.
She's 9 months old and still wakes even though she can settle herself

My nearly-two yo only contact naps. She sleeps well on her own at night though and always has.

100% normal!

my son is 13 months old and the last few weeks he now naps in his cot. I so miss cuddling him asleep.

I wonder if OP is still on here as I would be interested to know how things are now. I could have written your original post. I'm forced to go to bed with the baby at 730 as he is only able to sleep on me! Several attempts at gentle sleep training have been awfully stressful and a failure.

Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one too! I have a 5 month old girl and she bed shares with me and will only fall asleep with a boob in her mouth. I've come to the point where I'm almost stopping during the day and giving bottles instead just to get some rest.
