Baby fell on face from sitting, worried

Currently on the phone to 111 but wondering if any of you have some advice or similar experience.
Our 6 month old baby fell on his face from sitting position (he was sat on the floor and DH left him unsupported for "2 seconds" when it happened), there was a bit of crying and nose bleed, but after 5-10 min he was fine.
What I'm worried about is that when he smiles or makes faces his bottom jaw is kind of pushed to the side? He's breastfeeding, chewing and gnawing like normal and doesn't seem in pain.
I'm so worried his jaw got misplaced and will remain like this forever? Could it hopefully be only a muscle twitch or similar making it?

That most definitely needs looking at. 111 will assess and it's likely you will have to go to the emergency department. Just make sure you keep an eye on baby. Don't feel bad about it, babies and children often have accidents.

Accidents happen, but he needs to be seen.

(he was sat on the floor and DH left him unsupported for "2 seconds" when it happened),

Just wanted to say that learning to sit, stand and walk goes hand in hand with many unsupported falls. It's part of the learning process so don't feel bad about it.

cheekychaplin · 18/02/2022 18:37

A&E for that, not 112

cheekychaplin · 18/02/2022 18:38

Not 111

GrazingSheep · 18/02/2022 18:39

It looks as if his jaw is dislocated.
I agree that you should take him to hospital

SameToo · 18/02/2022 18:43

A and E.

What did his face hit? Always best To have a soft landing.

Dahlia5 · 18/02/2022 18:43

He was sat on a foam play mat, according to his dad he tilted and fell sideways on his face

Most likely will be fine but go get it checked.

Our eldest tripped and fell in to our front door, huge bruise came up immediately. Following week she did the same in to a wall, no long term damage. They are very hardy little things, they have so many bumps over the years. We've had one fall down full flight of stairs and fingers trapped in doors which we took them in to be checked over for but all was fine thankfully. Our 6mth old is like a falling tree and I need to be quick to catch her.

nutellingyou · 18/02/2022 18:47

You've done the right thing going to A&E. Hope everything goes well, I'm sure it will. Do let us know how you get on.

Very true don't beat yourself up I can bet that all babies learning to sit have fallen at some point I know mine did! Hope he is ok! Just wait until he has his first fall off the bed
Harrysutton · 18/02/2022 18:55

Hope he’s ok. Accidents happen so don’t feel guilty

Floralnomad · 18/02/2022 18:57

Hope he’s Ok @Dahlia5 , these things happen but it’s always best to get them checked out , hopefully you wont have to wait too long .

Cakelover17 · 18/02/2022 18:57

You’ve done the right thing. Don’t feel guilty or blame your DH, accidents happen! May be the first time but it absolutely won’t be the last.

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 18:57

I'm glad you took him to A&E
Good luck Flowers

pastabest · 18/02/2022 18:58

did you witness it happening?

MiniCooperLover · 18/02/2022 19:01

It doesn't look 'right' but falling over is part of the process and it's good you are in A&E. But it sounds like your DH left him alone? I used to surround mine with cushions, it looked ridiculous but meant he could topple over without worry.

Hugasauras · 18/02/2022 19:01

Ah bless him. Looks like he's just been very unlucky to fall awkwardly. There's lots of face-planting when they first are learning to sit on their own, so just seems bad luck that he's caught himself in exactly the wrong place. Hopefully he'll be right as rain soon!

Dahlia5 · 18/02/2022 19:31

Thank you all, at a&e still, he's already been checked by the nurse and now waiting for the doctor to do further checks

I was in the same room when it happened, but I was having my dinner and watching TV and DH was playing with him on the playmat in the corner of the room. I didn't see actual fall but couldn't even hear any loud bump. DH was on the play mat next to him.. Must have been very unfortunate falling, really hope his jaw will get sorted

Poor little guy. Do they think it's misplaced?

ApolloandDaphne · 18/02/2022 19:51

Wee soul. Hope he is okay.
