Baby fell on face from sitting, worried

Currently on the phone to 111 but wondering if any of you have some advice or similar experience.
Our 6 month old baby fell on his face from sitting position (he was sat on the floor and DH left him unsupported for "2 seconds" when it happened), there was a bit of crying and nose bleed, but after 5-10 min he was fine.
What I'm worried about is that when he smiles or makes faces his bottom jaw is kind of pushed to the side? He's breastfeeding, chewing and gnawing like normal and doesn't seem in pain.
I'm so worried his jaw got misplaced and will remain like this forever? Could it hopefully be only a muscle twitch or similar making it?

The same happened to DD a few months ago at same age. They are fast little things when they want to be.

Hope he's ok.

Oh my, i'm far from the over worrying type but yes, take him to the doctor.

gemloving · 18/02/2022 20:46

Hope you and babe are ok OP. Accidents happen and I'm sure there won't anything lasting x

Thesearmsofmine · 18/02/2022 20:49

Glad he is being seen and I hope he is ok. I hope DH is ok too.

Turlututu · 18/02/2022 20:53

Hope he is okay xx
Don't feel bad OP, accidents happen. No matter how vigilant you are

Facewipes · 18/02/2022 20:57

That’s good you’re being seen in A and E. I know you’ll be a nervous wreck but we’ve all been there when normally so careful etc and hopefully you’ll get some good news shortly from the doctor.

Lovemydoggie · 18/02/2022 21:02

Don’t feel guilty…that is negative energy! My daughter dislocated her elbow when she was three months old because my husband caught her arm on the bouncer bar when he picked her up …just get baby checked and relax ! Am sure most Mums can give examples of near miss occasions !

Sexnotgender · 18/02/2022 21:05

Glad you’re in A&E, I’d have gone too.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 18/02/2022 21:05

Might just be a bit of jaw asymmetry, my DS was similar especially when he smiled. It's evened out now he is a toddler.
Best to get it looked at anyway, babies are so delicate at this age.

PutOnAHappyFace · 18/02/2022 21:14

Sorry I meant she had the same fall. She did have a very impressive bruise for a while.

Maybe it's a bit sore and he's just holding his mouth like that, if that makes sense. Hopefully he gets seen by the doctor soon.

Hollywolly1 · 18/02/2022 21:18

This could happen even if you were holding the baby they could just give a jerk.I think you were absolutely correct taking him to A&E ,hope all is okay

m00rfarm · 18/02/2022 21:27

If he is not in any pain and behaving normally, maybe it was like this before and it will just even itself out. But best to check - hopefully he is fine.

Mostlyjustrunning · 18/02/2022 21:32

I don’t think I could even count the number of times mine have fallen on their faces! He would be very unlucky to do damage.

Dahlia5 · 18/02/2022 21:35

His mouth was definitely straight before, both me and DH noticed it got uneven after the fall - it's noticeable when he's smiling or making faces. Still waiting to be seen, will update later.

I wonder if he’s just got a bit of swelling. Hope it all goes ok in a&e.

Don’t be cross with your dh, it happens all the time. Your baby has been unlucky.

mrsoverall2 · 18/02/2022 21:41

These things happen but I'm sure you'll get sorted. Sending love

RJnomore1 · 18/02/2022 21:42

That sort of fall is so so common but he does need his jaw checked as it looks off so you are doing the right thing, very very unlucky though. It’s usually funny when they go over (on a padded mat).

MrsTimRiggins · 18/02/2022 21:45

So easily done, but poor DS, poor you and poor DH, what a horrid evening. Sending love and best wishes

Panda8383 · 18/02/2022 21:46

Hope your little one is ok, these things happen x

AnAverageMum · 18/02/2022 21:47

Ohh so sorry OP. You’ve just been unlucky I think. I don’t know anyone who’s baby hasn’t rolled/fallen off something. Hope your son is ok!

PetalLeaves · 18/02/2022 21:50

Hope he’s ok OP Flowers
