Freedom sling...help...anyone?

I've got a freedom sling for DS2. He's 9wks and quite a chunky baby- the sling feels awkward and he looks squashed tbh.

Do i just need to persevere, or should i cut my losses, sell it and get another kind?

My DD is 6 mths now and I still use the freedom sling and she fits in fine (she's quite a big girl too). Just persevere and you will get the hand of it. I needed to look at the instructions a few times before I was happy with how dd was sitting.
Make sure it doesn't sit too far down your arm, but it is also worth having it spread so it is over your shoulder (part above and part below) to spread the weight.
Good luck.

will practise bit more then. he seems annoyed in the 'nursing' position...i think chest-to-chest will suit him better.

where does the ring sit when you wear it? i can't seem to get it right/comfy

hang on to it - once he has a bit more head control and can 'sit' more rather than lying in it it may get easier - from about 12wks dd loved sitting up thus but with her legs crossed inside the sling.

(fio have you tried chest-to-chest in the murron's pouch thus or thus? dd wouldn't countenance the cradle carry after 12wks either)

thinking about it dd will only go in the nursing position if I am actually feeding her. she much prefers chest to chest too.

I have the rings sitting just below my shoulder (against the top of my arm/chest).

thw rings are supposed to sit, just under your shoulder, in the natural dip in your body. almost exactly where most nursing bras undo!! have a feel and you'll find it!

definately persevere as they are so fantastic, when they do get the hang on them, alrhough it's nice for them to be snuggled up close, if they haven't had it all along, it takes the a while to get themselves used to it. try wearing all the time at home so that they can have as much exposure to it as possible, and it helps you get used to it to.

sorry missed a bit,

have you tried the frog leg position? where the legs are basically curled up like a frog's, not crossed at all, like they're about to jump out. (as they get older, they do learn to push up like a frog)

TinselGrrrlWith2Boys · 02/01/2008 14:14

think i've had the rings too high then...
