FTM here (lockdown pregnancy and baby) and looking for some advice. My 15 month DS has never been the best sleeper. We have had a maximum total of 2 nights in a row sleeping through. But he has always been brilliant in that he can be put in his cot awake with his lullabies on and then he will go to sleep on his own. We can have anything from 1 to 3 wake ups usually.
However at the minute this has all changed. He is going through a very clingy Mummy phase. If I leave the room he cries and shouts my name. It is quite intense!
Now, though, this is impacting his sleep. He won't be put down awake anymore; he just gets hysterical shouting Mummy Mummy. We have a single blow up air bed in his room and he likes to lie on it next to me (I'm half on the airbed and half on the floor) and be near me to sleep. I then have to transfer him to his cot, which is sometimes successful and sometimes not.
Anyway, we've had a bad run of nights recently. Last night I was in with him from 10.30 until 11.30 and then again at 2 until 4am and then he woke at 5.45am for the day. I tried to put him in his cot 5 times during the night but he would just scream. My DH also tried to come and lie with him but DS just cries for me.
My mood is crushed, and my back aches from being on the floor most of the night. For all of you experienced Mummy's out there what shall I do? Ride it out? Try persevere with leaving him in his cot? I don't want to do the CIO method. We are lucky to live next door to very understanding neighbours as DS has always been a crier.
Any advice would be greatly received as I'm back to work next week (on half term currently ) and I have to get up at 5.30am.
Thanks in advance!
