Covid positive and caring for a 5 month old baby. Hi as the title says I’ve just been tested positive for Covid and I don’t know how to care for my five month old baby now I am really worried she’s had a tiny bit of cough but I don’t know what that is but I’m just extremely worried as you could imagine ,

I just carried on as I couldn't isolate from my 7 month old as I breastfeed and co-sleep. She got it 4 days later and hardly had any symptoms (I felt very rough for a couple of days).

If she's going to catch it off you she'll likely have done so already and there's clearly no way at all you can avoid being close and sharing germs with a baby. But chances are neither of you will be any sicker than if you have a cold or flu. Can you find a friend to drop round any paracetamol or anything you need? Sort an online grocery shop? Organise a time when your baby is likely to be asleep to have a nice phone call or zoom chat with a friend so you don't feel too isolated?

I had covid with 1 year old twins (who also had it) and a 4 year old also poorly with it. Honestly the main symptom for me was tiredness - well im bloody knackered all the time so no change there and I've had worse colds - 99% of people I know who have had it in the last 2 months have had very mild symptoms and were able to carry on as normal (not leaving the house obviously!) but WFH, childcare etc

Just been through this, although we think we picked it up from 5 month old as he had symptoms first but I only tested him after my DH tested positive. We were all ok and now me and the baby both have a cold and I have felt worse with this than I did with covid. It is scary but we all got through it fine and I'm sure you will too

My husband and I tested positive when our baby was 3 months, she then tested positive too. She was fine - temperature for 24 hours and a bit out of sorts for another day then a bit snotty for a few more days, but generally fine. You can't isolate from her and as others have said she will probably already have caught it anyway as you're infectious before you're symptomatic. Try not to worry, I'm sure she'll be okay.
